Teddy had been missing for more than a month when San Diego County Animal Services officers found a dog trapped in a storm drain and coaxed her out with treats. At the shelter, staff cleaned her, fed her, and checked for a microchip before her family arrived after weeks of flyers, driving, and searching. The reunion had the kind of proof every pet person understands: Teddy recognized her people and came back to life with tail wags and happy howls.
