A young vendor's unforgettable World Cup moment

A nine-year-old boy selling water bottles and hot dogs with his family on a Los Angeles sidewalk was surprised with an unforgettable day after viral TikTok creator Zachery Dereniowski bought out his entire inventory, gave the family $1,000, and invited Ethan and his father to attend a 2026 FIFA World Cup match. The Independent reports how the gesture meant Ethan could trade a day of work for a once-in-a-lifetime memory.

What stayed with us most, though, was Ethan's perspective. On the way to the stadium, he shared a simple message about kindness and seeing one another beyond differences – reminding us that moments of generosity often travel far beyond the people receiving them.

When music helps rebuild

Shakira and the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund have pledged $500,000 to support children affected by the recent devastating earthquakes in Venezuela. The funding is dedicated to helping restore access to education as communities begin the long road to recovery. According to NME, the donation comes after Shakira committed all profits from the 2026 FIFA World Cup anthem to the education fund earlier this year.

While emergency response efforts continue, the announcement highlights an important part of rebuilding: helping children return to learning, routine, and hope. Other artists, including Metallica and Rush, have also contributed to relief efforts, reflecting a growing wave of support from across the music community.

Once rescued, now saving lives

A rescue dog named Tsunami has become a symbol of hope in the aftermath of Venezuela's earthquakes, helping search teams locate and rescue survivors. As Forbes reports, the border collie (who was once rescued himself) has spent years training for disaster response and has now helped save hundreds of lives, including several during current efforts.

Alongside international rescue teams, local volunteers, neighbors, and first responders have worked tirelessly to search for survivors, showing how compassion, preparation, and community can make all the difference when every moment counts.

One of our favorite things about this community is how honestly you show up. Last month, we asked you to tell us something you've been looking forward to lately, and your responses reminded us that joy often starts long before the moment arrives.

Thank you for inviting us into what you're excited about. Here are a few that stayed with us.

I’m looking forward to a visit by my beautiful daughter. I only get to see her every couple of months. We always spend so much time laughing when we are together! - Diana

Celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. Instead of one big trip, we've planned special things each day for a week. Some are things we enjoy and others, like a balloon ride, are things we've always wanted to do. - Nancy

Lately, I have been looking forward to color returning to my world. Earlier this year, I lost my dad, and grief has a way of making everything feel black and white. But little by little, I am starting to see color again. I look forward to road trips with my son. Long conversations with my husband. Puppy cuddles from our Shih Tzu, Panda. Fresh pink peonies on the table. Watching the sunset. Hearing a song that reminds me of a happy memory instead of a sad one. I am learning that healing is not one big moment. It is a thousand tiny moments of beauty. And lately, I have been looking forward to finding as many of those colorful moments as I can. - Andi

I'm looking forward to my short afternoon walk. I've discovered blackberry bushes growing along the fence on the brickyard where I work, and a few warm blackberries are a lovely motivation to keep walking! - Pamela

I’m looking forward to getting to the ocean this summer. The ocean revitalizes me yet also gives me peace. - Wendy

A new conversation about midlife health

New research and clinical insights are reshaping the way we think about women's health in midlife, suggesting that building and maintaining muscle may support not only physical strength but also brain health. Dr. Jila Senemar explains to mindbodygreen that resistance training, adequate protein, quality sleep, and overall metabolic health can help women navigate common menopause-related changes like brain fog, fatigue, and declining muscle mass.

The conversation is shifting toward resilience – suggesting that caring for our muscles today may help preserve energy, mobility, cognitive function, and independence for years to come.

Abundance hiding in plain sight

Simple, everyday moments like morning sunlight, a peaceful walk, or the first sip of coffee may do more for our sense of abundance than we often realize. Power of Positivity explores how savoring these rituals can bring more calm, connection, and contentment.

Perhaps the greatest takeaway is that a richer life isn't always built by adding more; it's often found in paying closer attention. Joy has a way of gathering in the ordinary when we leave enough room to notice it.
